“Behind” every great man like Johnnie Walker, there’s a woman, and in this case, her name is #JaneWalker.
In honor of Women’s History Month, one of the world’s top whiskey brands is making a huge change to its iconic walking man label.
With #JaneWalker alongside the man, he no longer has to keep walking on his own.
This month, you will find special edition bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label with #JaneWalker on the label instead of the familiar male form.
According to Johnnie Walker Vice President Stephanie Jacoby, “Important conversations about gender continue to be at the forefront of culture and we strongly believe there is no better time than now to introduce our Jane Walker icon and contribute to pioneering organizations that share our mission. We are proud to toast the many achievements of women and everyone on the journey towards progress in gender equality.”
And it’s not just all about the label. This is no mere publicity stunt.
For each bottle of the special edition #JaneWalker bottle sold, a dollar will go to women-oriented organizations. The total amount donated should add up to $250,000 – $150,000 of which will be given directly to the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund, which is behind the #MonumentalWomen campaign.
We say good on you, Johnnie Walker. You’ve always been part of the 3 Js in our lives: Jack, Jim, and Johnnie. 😉
